How to Add Screen Record to the Control Center on Your iPhoneiPad

To record the screen of your iPhone, you must first add Screen Recording to the Control Center of your device. If you have an iPhone running iOS 11 or later, this will only work for you. To add Screen Recording to the Control Center, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings application. Screen Recording may be activated by tapping the green circle next to it in the Control Center.
Now you have the ability to record your screen; but, by default, your iPhone will only record the screen and not any external noises or music. Answering the question “How can I capture my iPhone screen with sound?” is the next step. In this part, we’ll go through how to record (or not record) your voice, as well as how to record (or not record) the natural sounds of your iPhone. When you record your screen with sound, this is a very critical step since we need to understand exactly what you mean by sound.
- If you wish to record your voice while screen recording on your iPhone, you must first turn on the microphone (*Note* this will record in-app audio as well)
- Then turn on the camera. If you simply want to capture the sounds of an app, you should switch off the microphone on your iPhone while leaving the ringer turned on. Similarly, if you turn off the microphone and have your phone’s ringer turned off (on quiet), the screen recording will be silent.
If you want to turn your microphone on and off for an app while screen recording, open your Settings app, go to Privacy, then Microphone, then toggle on any app you wish to have voiceover capabilities for when screen recording. Selecting this option ensures that no voiceover or ambient noise is recorded alongside your screen recording. You have the ability to switch your microphone settings from screen recording to screen recording whenever you want.

How to “screenshot” music and videos on your iPhone
Simply hit the record button. Photo courtesy of darkday/Flickr Creative Commons You can take a screenshot of any image you see on your iPhone or iPad, and then save it to your computer. Almost everyone is familiar with the power+home button, or power+volume-up button, combination, which takes a screenshot and saves it to your picture library on your phone. You may also crop the image before saving it if you want to eliminate distracting elements from the background. What about video, on the other hand?
Does your iPhone allow you to take a “screenshot” of the music that is now playing?
Alternatively, you might record a YouTube video. Yes, it is correct. In fact, you may even “screenshot” a movie and then extract the music from inside it using this method of extraction. Here’s how to do it: using screen recording software.
Capture video and music with iOS Screen Recording
We’re going to utilize the iOS Screen Recording feature, which is included with every iPhone and iPad, to record our session today. It functions in the same way as a screenshot, except that it takes a video of your screen instead of simply recording a still image. Prior to iOS 13.1 and later, it only recorded mono audio; however, after then, it has begun to record stereo audio as well. We will create a screen recording and then extract the audio from that recording, either using a shortcut or an audio editing program, as seen in the video.
- It is not possible to record songs in the Music app using the screen recorder. Whenever you record, it turns off the audio output from the Music app on your phone. YouTube videos and any other music, on the other hand, are fair game. To convert a device with a single mono speaker to a stereo device, you must first put in headphones and then turn on the device. If your taken video is playing back silently, make sure the mute button in the Photos app is not enabled in your device. It’s turned on by default.
How to capture a stereo screen recording
How to capture your screen in stereo – now available! Image courtesy of Apple To make a screen recording, you just slide open the Control Center and press the little screen recording button on the right-hand side. It’s a dot contained within a circle. If the control isn’t available, you can enable it by going to SettingsControl CenterCustomize Controls and selecting it. Any time you want to utilize your recording device, you may do so as soon as you add the recorder button to the Control Center.
You may access more settings by holding down the screen recording button for a lengthy period of time.
Today, on the other hand, we’d like to keep the microphone turned off.
The recording will be stored to your picture collection without your intervention.
How to trim and extract audio from your screen recordings
On iOS, we offer a comprehensive instruction on how to cut your video. Simply viewing your movie in the Photos app, selecting Edit, and then selecting the video timeline at the bottom of the screen, is the short version of the process. It will become yellow, and you will be able to grasp the ends of the timeline and move them to trim the beginning and ending points of the clip. To save your changes, press the done button. You have the option to undo any changes you’ve made at any time. Alternatively, you may use my shortcut, which cuts the video prior to extracting the audio file.
There are several programs that can accomplish this, but we’ll take the easy way out and employ a shortcut.
A shortcut to extract audio from video
Copy the shortcut below, or download it from the link provided. Image courtesy of the Mac Cult. When accessed through the iOS share sheet, this shortcut is intended to be utilized. It only accepts “media” files, which is why it only appears when you share a video clip with someone. First and foremost, it allows you to trim the video clip directly in the shortcut. This is followed by an M4a file conversion and ultimately the saving of the generated audio file to Apple’s iCloud. It’s simple enough to make on your own, but if you want, you can obtain a copy of the template here.
You could, for example, delete the trimstep or convert the audio format to WAV if you wanted to.
You now have a simple method to record YouTube videos to audio (which I do while I’m learning to play a new tune) or to pull music from virtually anywhere other than the built-in Music application.
I wouldn’t be shocked if some other apps also eliminate screen recording functionality in the future. I did try Prime Video, and everything appears to be in perfect working order. Wishing you the best of luck!

Step 1: Play a Song
To begin, you’ll need to put on your iPhone and blast a song via the device’s speakers rather than through your headphones. It makes no difference if you play it through Apple Music, Spotify, or any other music app or streaming service that allows for background listening of music. The only thing that matters is that the music may be played in the background, which means that you can use other applications while the song is still playing. In order to ensure that the audio is sufficiently captured by the microphone, make sure that it is audibly loud.

Step 2: Record a Video
The Camera app must be launched and put into “Photo” mode in order to capture a QuickTake video while music is playing. The song in the background will stop playing if you attempt to switch to “Video” mode. Make sure you are in “Photo” mode before switching to “Video.” Then, touch and hold the red shutter button to begin recording your video; release the button when you’re finished. It is compatible with both the back camera and the selfie camera. Additionally, you may lock QuickTake mode so that it will continue recording even if you do not continue to press the shutter button.
When utilizing this approach, you may stop the recording by pressing the shutter button a second time, which will display the universal stop icon.

While you are recording video, the song that is now playing will continue to play in the background through your iPhone’s built-in speakers, and it will be heard inside the video that is captured. Because it’s being recorded through your iPhone’s speakers, the audio won’t be perfect, but it’s a wonderful alternative to overlaying the actual audio over the video using a third-party app like Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok.
